Three blogs ago I asked you for tips about good quality slippers to keep my feet warm during the cold winter months. And boy, did you deliver! You sent me a big bunch of tips. And because of that, my feet are eternally comfy and cosy in my new fuzzy slippers. Thanks so much!<\/em><\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

And what did I choose? I\u2019ve chosen a pair of slippers made out of felted wool by Glerups. Elisa from the blog Duurzame Dinkies recommended these a while ago. And Glerups were mentioned several times in the suggestions I received, so I decided to try them out. I get cold pretty quickly and especially my feet. My toes feel like ice cubes sometimes! And even though I have a good cork floor and my Tiny House is insulated with wool, eventually the cold gets through and the floor will become cold. When you sit in front of the heater it\u2019s fine, but when I\u2019m working on my laptop behind my desk, it\u2019s a whole different story. And once my feet are cold – really cold – there\u2019s no way I\u2019m getting warm again.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

I sent the people from\u00a0Glerups.nl<\/a> an e-mail, asking if I could try a pair of slippers and write a review on my blog in return, and they liked the idea. I think that good quality, sustainable slippers are pretty important for Tiny House owners. The same goes for everyone else, by the way. ;) The slippers got delivered to my house in no time: ankle-high boots made of black felted wool with rubber soles.\u00a0 I chose ankle-high boots because I\u2019m afraid I might get cold ankles, and rubber soles for when I have to step onto the deck. That way I won\u2019t have to put shoes on before stepping out when the deck is wet. And I won\u2019t have to worry about slipping, great!<\/p>\n

The first thing I noticed about these beautiful Glerups slippers is that they\u2019re very firm. In the included booklet I read that they\u2019re made of 100% sheep wool: partially from Gotland, Sweden, and partially from New Zealand. The rubber sole is made of natural rubber. The company started as a family business and has fans all over the world. No wonder the box has a warning sign: \u2018Warning, addiction can occur!\u2019.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

So, I put them on. The next evening I sat on the couch with the woodstove on. I got warmer\u2026and warmer\u2026I checked the thermometer, it was cozy enough but not that hot. But I felt like I was sitting in a sauna! I told a friend with whom I was watching a movie: \u2018don\u2019t put that much wood on the fire, it\u2019s hot as hell in here!\u2019 He looked at me a little funny, and then I finally got it. It was the slippers! That\u2019s why I was so warm, because my feet were warm! That was my first experience of the power of Glerups slippers. Wow!<\/p>\n

So now I can wait longer before starting a fire, thanks to my warm feet. That\u2019s really great. I put them on as soon as I get home, and I\u2019m not wearing anything else but my Glerups slippers at home. \u00a0They say you can wear them barefoot, but I prefer socks. Even though wool has self-cleaning properties, somehow it feels cleaner for me. The felt is water repellent so it allows me to step outside for a bit. The soles are also available in leather by the way, but that didn\u2019t seem like a good idea on a wet frozen wooden deck, so I went with the rubber soles. I\u2019m very happy with my choice!<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

There\u2019s no other way of putting it: Glerups has made another victim. I\u2019m hooked for life, I\u2019m afraid. But there are worse addictions I suppose. ;) I\u2019ve said goodbye to my cold feet, hurray! I have noticed that when my feet are already frozen, I can\u2019t get them warm by putting on my Glerups slippers. That makes sense though: if I\u2019m going to bed with cold feet, the bed won\u2019t make them warm and there no other solution than making a hot water bottle. But my feet haven\u2019t been cold in days. They stay nice and warm when I put on my Glerups. That thick layer of felt is really effective.<\/p>\n

I think they\u2019ll last very long, which is important to me. Regular slippers usually last for one or two years and then they\u2019re just done. What a waste, we\u2019re producing enough garbage as it is. Whenever I buy something now, I want it to be a high quality product that lasts a long time. We need to get rid of that throw-away culture. If you want to buy something, do a little research and save up a little money until you can buy an environmental friendly and sustainable product. In the end it\u2019s better for your wallet too. These Glerups slippers are certainly worth their money, that\u2019s my final judgement. And it makes a great present for Christmas for that matter! Especially for men, since they never know what to ask for. ;) I\u2019m really happy with my slippers, so Glerups.nl, thanks so much!<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n
